The Monthly | May 2019

Sooo, although I’m starting the monthly round up five months into the year, May is definitely the best month to begin with and this May has definitely been one of the best months of my life.

What I’ve Been Up To

First off, May is my birthday month and this just happens to be the year I turned 21!!! Does that mean I’m a proper adult now? So on the 4th I started off my month flying to New York City. New York is somewhere I have always dreamed of visiting and never in a million years did I ever think I would actually go. I was lucky enough to spend 5 nights there with my boyfriend. This was my first time in New York however my boyfriend had been before with his family a few years back but nevertheless he was still happy to go back to all the tourist attractions so I could experience it to and I think he was very happy to be back in his favourite place. My boyfriends mum actually gifted us the New York City Passes which was such a good idea and is something I would definitely recommend purchasing if you are planning a trip to NY especially if you are going to as many tourist attractions as you can squeeze in during your stay. The passes are pretty much pre-paid tickets to hundreds of attractions across the city and all you have to do is show up and scan you’re card and you’re in. This saved us so much money and it actually meant we ended up doing so much more than we had hoped because we had access to so many different attractions knowing that the cost was already covered by our passes.

Like I said we done as many tourist attractions as we could so we visited the Top of the Rock, Times Square, 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Madame Tussaud’s, Flatiron Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty and so much more but my favourite thing we done was the rowing boats in Central Park, it was one of the most relaxing things I’ve ever done in my life and it was such a gorgeous day as well.

As I had been in New York over my birthday, the birthday celebrations began as soon as I got home with my family. We started the night off with a game of ten pin bowling which I lost… and my dad showed us all up and by getting 6/7 strikes in a row! Then we all took part in an escape room which is my new obsession - they’re so fun. We played the Black and White game at Breakout Games Aberdeen, they have two identical rooms of the same game we played so it meant we were able to split into two teams and play against each other to see who escaped first. Surprisingly I was actually on the winning team.

When reality finally kicked in I spent my last few days off of work in my garden with my sisters doing some gardening and giving the fences a fresh lick of paint in perfect time for the summer. Now all we have to do is get the decking laid and buy some garden furniture.

What I’ve Been Watching

A TV show I’ve been loving right now is “Scotlands Home of the Year”. If you’re into interiors and lusting over beautiful homes you will love this show, you can catch up with the previous episodes on BBC iPlayer. The judges visit three homes in each episode and take a vote to decide which house they liked the most -the winning home in each episode is then entered into the final. One of the judges is one of my favourite bloggers Kate from katelavie.com which just makes the show even better.

Myself and my boyfriend also started watching “Dead To Me” on Netflix the other day after seeing so many people recommending it on Twitter, we're only one episode in so far but it looks like a good watch. I’ll keep you posted!

Blogs I’ve Been Loving

This past month I’ve been obsessing over two blogs in particular, the first one is Lauren’s blog from loulabellerose.co.uk. There is something about her blog posts that I can connect to so much, every topic she writes about I can instantly relate back to my life, she covers so many important topics that are sometimes not always talked about such as being in debt and her struggles with acne. She has even does #nofoundationfriday over on her insta (here) to show it’s okay to be positive in your own skin - i just love her and everything she stands for!

The other blog I have been loving is another Scottish blogger and that is Bekah from rbekhaj.com again she just creates content that I want to create and that I love reading and I think that’s why i love her blog so much, she is also passionate about sustainability and being environmentally friendly and writes amazing posts about the topic and she also raises awards about it on her instagram account (here). She also focuses on mental health awareness and other amazing topics.

So, that’s all for my first monthly round up! Let me know what you’ve been up to this month in the comments.
